Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System expands participation in Premier's LaborConnect™ program through Concerro™ shift management system
Healthcare system will deploy online staff scheduling and shift management system to improve employee satisfaction and better manage labor costs
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 1, 2009) – Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) in Spartanburg, S.C., is expanding its participation in the Premier healthcare alliance LaborConnect™ program.
SRHS will deploy Concerro's™ new shift management system, a component of Premier's LaborConnect program, to track and streamline staff scheduling practices, reduce premium pay in the form of overtime and shift auction, and improve employee satisfaction. More than 500 hospitals have chosen to participate in various components of Premier's LaborConnect program, which includes benchmarking, productivity, management engineering, senior consulting and shift management applications and services.
"Our ongoing relationship with Premier has helped us to proactively benchmark and manage productivity," said Susan Duggar, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer at SRHS. "When they introduced the Concerro Web-based product for employee self-scheduling, we were impressed with the ability to manage labor costs while still providing excellent care for our patients."
Spartanburg currently uses Premier's OperationsAdvisor™ benchmarking and productivity applications, as well as the services of a Premier Performance Partner to help implement and monitor labor use. The healthcare system implemented a new labor management program that included a strategic deployment of Premier Consulting Solutions and achieved savings of more than $3.62 million in their FY 2008. SRHS is not only holding the initial gains, but has posted additional savings of $1.296 million.
Spartanburg also uses Premier's SafetySurveillor™ Web-based healthcare-associated infection (HAI) tracking technology as a member of the QUEST: High Performing Hospitals collaborative and Premier's ClinicalAdvisor® solution for quality performance benchmarking and improvement. In addition, they are an owner of the Premier Purchasing Partners group purchasing organization.
