St. Rita’s captures the value of construction, facilities portfolios
St. Rita's Medical Center provides comprehensive healthcare services to residents in West Central Ohio. The not-for-profit facility has more than 400 licensed beds and nearly 4,000 employees, physicians and volunteers. It provides services in a number of specialties including trauma and emergency care, orthopedics, cancer, women's health and cardiovascular disease. Established in 1918 by the Sisters of Mercy, the hospital is a member of the Catholic Healthcare Partners.
Situation:
St. Rita’s Medical Center was in the planning process for an infrastructure renovation and new tower expansion project and wanted to capitalize on savings opportunities through the use of Premier’s construction and facilities portfolios.
Solution:
St. Rita’s started by reviewing Premier general contractor agreements. The hospital selected a general contractor that had extensive knowledge of the Premier portfolio and who would be able to help the hospital use the portfolio to its fullest potential.
Result:
Sixteen Premier contracted suppliers were used, saving St. Rita’s more than $1 million – about 10 percent off of $9 million in purchases. Future benefits will include savings on all equipment replacement costs since prices were locked in and no additional negotiations are required.
"Because of their relationships with national account representatives,
Premier Facilities staff played an important role in bringing us together with
the experts who had the knowledge and resources to best meet our long-term needs
and offer insights into future trends."
