Situation:
Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, NC, has made continuous readiness for a possible Joint Commission survey a priority even before it was mandatory.
Solution:
Waiting until the last minute to prepare for a Joint Commission survey visit is a recipe for disaster. Alamance has had a long-standing relationship with Premier for Joint Commission readiness services that goes back to 1980. Each year the hospital works with Premier Consulting Solutions Joint Commission Readiness Team to make sure that required Joint Commission processes are built in to the way it does business – an integral part of processes for guaranteeing quality and safety.
Results:
In June 2009, Alamance had another very success survey by The Joint Commission.
"Alamance has been well-served by Premier over the years as our partner
in ongoing readiness for Joint Commission surveys. Premier has a tremendous team
that is very knowledgeable of all aspects of preparation for a Joint Commission
survey. . . . Premier definitely helped us make that evolution in thinking. It
fits with our culture. There is absolutely no need to go through a fire drill
every three years."
