Contracting
The goal of Premier's Pharmacy Contracting Program is to provide the most complete and price-competitive contract portfolio by aggregating pharmacy purchasing for Premier members. Premier pharmacy contracts cover over 150 suppliers and over 12,000 different products. These contracts cover approximately 70% of all purchases by a pharmacy department.
The benefits of participating in Pharmacy purchasing programs include:
- Continuous portfolio value improvement - An on-going continuous improvement process to ensure the competitiveness of Premier's contract portfolio.
- Flexible wholesaler agreements - Premier allows facilities to select their own wholesaler. Data sharing agreements with 27 wholesalers allow portfolio analysis to be completed on any Premier member facility. In addition, Premier through its wholesaler network takes exhaustive measures to help members receive adequate supplies of needed vaccines, such as influenza, and drugs in short supply.
- Supply Chain Advisor® (SCA) - Helps you assess your supply chain in real time, capture immediate savings and improve processes for sustained results. SCA allows you to analyze all of your purchases and manage your contracts online, with access to expert support along the way.
- Service contracts - In addition to product contracts, the Pharmacy portfolio offers service contracts to help provide the tools vital to reducing costs. These services include pharmacy benefit management, indigent recovery programs, returns programs, and testing and certification of contamination control equipment.
- IV Products Contract Portfolio and Evaluation Kit - Premier and its members have engaged in a comprehensive IV contract review resulting in new agreements offering price reductions, supplier choice, and the latest IV technologies that encompass patient and staff safety.
